Born in Madison, Wisconsin, Anglo Satellite (Sheldon James) was influenced early by the mid-west rave scene of the 90s and has been producing music since 1994. With influences as diverse as drum and bass and nu-rave italian electro, Anglo Satellite's spirit is rooted in his musical past, but also forward-thinking and genre-defying.
1) Original Mix - Named for the wintry slopes of Bogus Basin, Idaho, the track conjures images of harrowing vertical drops and extreme winter conditions. Pushing off from the opening cymbal splash, the breakbeat bassline gains momentum as it careens down an icy electro-slope, carving through stuttered throwback samples and classic 90s kick-drum loops, melting the hearts of old-school hip-hop heads, new-gen ravers, and abominable snowmen alike.
2) Will Bailey Remix - This larger-than-life electro-house remix takes the dancefloor on a sonic journey through ragga-infused vocals, cut-up sirens and snippets of classic rave sounds with a skittering rhythm that makes it all bounce. As a producer, the UK's Will Bailey has come into his own in the last few years, gaining worldwide attention for his "big, naughty noises". This remix is no exception. With echoed sweeps and huge breakdowns, this massively fun and playful remix will have the dancefloor all a-flurry faster than you can shake a snowglobe.
3) Spenza Remix - With his penchant for musical extremes, Spenza (Stephan Bolch) pummels with this driving, metallic remix straight from Berlin and mechanized for optimum performance. Incorporating gritty sounds such as radio interference, sirens, and growling, texture-enhancing distortion, Spenza draws from the theme of man vs. machine and brings out an acutely industrial aesthetic as the track steadily builds to crescendo.
4) Titan Remix - Montreal's Titan (Juan Cristobal Tapia de Veer) brings his "anything goes" attitude to his mix and through his self proclaimed appreciation for "free and uncensored noise" creates a throttling version of BBB powerful enough to break glacial icebergs apart. Utilizing a dancer-friendly bassline, the focus of the track is redirected to an avalanche of synthesizers, which opens up the breakdown and takes this track to a blistering new temperature.
5) Pelussje Remix - About as far from Bogus Basin, Idaho as it gets, production duo Pelussje (Moonie Littlechairs and James Nayler), from Milan Italy, massacres dancefloors behind Mexican wrestling masks and takes no prisoners. Armed with the catchphrase "Smash your ears, trash your fears", Pelussje adds a funky, urban twist to this release. A fresh percussive intro opens up into a whomped out bassline, while balancing a definitive techno sensibility with tantalizing hints of breakbeat.
6) The Snowman VIP mix - This sub-zero treat from the elusive Snowman proves that the groove flows slower when your heart is frozen. The slowed down momentum gives this remix chilling depth and biting definition, while chattering percussion dances with snowballing chirps and shivering cymbal splashes on the surface.
