about

Innerflight Music proudly presents the fourth installment of the Left Coast Sampler compilation series, highlighting up-and-coming electronic music talent stationed along the Pacific edge. The series has always managed to find diverse, unique tracks from a body of promising names and number four is no different, possibly managing to become the strongest edition yet.

This speaker-stirring set of cuts opens with the bass heavy syncopated beats of “Ronin,” the creation of Kara Karasu, an alias of San Francisco IDM producer William S. Braintree. Braintree appeared on the previous Left Coast Sampler but this new track is a different animal altogether, mixing a Jeep-beat strut with slinky kung fu melodies.
Next up is Phaedrus, a Danish DJ and producer relocated in Seattle and thus qualifying for inclusion. His “Previously Unmounted” combines a crisp breakbeat with a techno bass line, rich chords, and a whimsical synth melody for a track that’s consistently in motion.
“Pishposher” follows, a catchy electronic track from west coast veteran Adlib. With its warm sub-bass drive and big analog synth line, the cut rolls at a captivating mid-tempo pace well-suited for sunrise festival moments, something that Adlib is quite familiar with.
Santa Cruz techno duo Antacid then appears, busting down doors with the high-charged “Synthetical Attachments.” Pulsing layers of filtered synths, a funky acid bass line, and sharp drum machine hits help make this a satisfying alternate soundtrack to Deckard‘s world.
The compilation heads back to Seattle for its final cut, “Something Rhythm,” courtesy of Shameless Productions’ own Joe Bellingham. This driving dose of tech-house comes complete with reverb drenched synths, a steady sub-bass, an insistent hi-hat beat, and splashes Bellingham’s trademark field recordings.

These five tracks give a glance into the aesthetics of Innerflight Music as the label continues to stretch boundaries and aim for the soundscape of the future.
